Postdoctoral researcher Junaid Zaman receives inaugural UK-US Fulbright British Heart Foundation Research Scholar Award

Junaid Zaman, MD, PhD

Junaid Zaman, MD, PhD, a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London and Stanford University, has received the inaugural UK-US Fulbright British Heart Foundation Research Scholar Award.  The award recognizes an individual who demonstrates academic excellence and ambassadorial skill, and provides £70,298 in research funds.

"I was delighted and deeply honored to receive the first ever Fulbright British Heart Foundation Scholar Award," Zaman said in an official press release. "I am passionate about the core values of the Fulbright program in furthering understanding between the UK-US through a mutual exchange of ideas, and I will build upon the British Heart Foundation-funded discoveries that I have made with my mentor, Professor Nicholas Peters, during my PhD."

Zaman’s funding will enable him to spend 12 months at Stanford, working with Sanjiv Narayan and Philip Yang to "coordinate a multi-center clinical trial in treating sudden cardiac death using patient specific mapping and targeted treatment strategies."
