About the Event:

The mission of the Stanford Center for Clinical Research includes offering educational resources, training, and support for Investigators and Research Staff. We have invited highly experienced educators in Cardiology, Rhonda Larsen, PA-C, MHS, and Sue Fernandes, PA-C, LP.D., to provide you with a solid foundation in cardiac anatomy and basic EKG interpretation. Lecture topics include:

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the heart
  • EKG Morphology
  • Conduction System of the Heart
  • Basic EKG Interpretation

About the Presenters:

Rhonda Larsen:  Rhonda Larsen, PA-C, MHS, began her career at Duke University and worked as a clinical PA in the Cardiology Division, administrator for the Duke Cardiology Associates group and manager for the Congestive Heart Failure research service group. She then directed Cardiology Site Research Coordination, where she managed 22 study coordinators for 50-60 ongoing clinical trials. In 2002, she was appointed Director of Site Based Research for the Duke Clinical Research Institute and in 2005 was appointed to a faculty position as Associate Vice Chair for Clinical Research for the Department of Medicine at Duke University. She is currently an Assistant Professor working in the Dean’s office at the Stanford University School of Medicine to transition the PA program to a Masters granting degree program.

Sue Fernandes: Sue Fernandes, LPD, PA-C, began her career at Boston Children’s Hospital where she worked for 17 years specializing in the transition of care of adult patients born with congenital heart defects. She then became the Assistant Director of Clinical Research in the Boston Adult Congenital Heart Service in 2001. She is currently the Director of the Adult Congenital Heart program at Stanford University Medical Center and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and was appointed Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Stanford University in 2014.
