Following in the footsteps of Linda Boxer, MD, PhD, Larry Leung, MD, and Stan Schrier, MD, Ravi Majeti, MD, PhD, has recently become Chief of the Department of Medicine’s Hematology Division. In his announcement to the faculty and staff, Department Chair Bob Harrington, MD, praised Majeti’s deep commitment to training and mentoring students, fellows and post-docs; his significant history of publication in top-tier journals; and his research on methods to treat acute leukemia, which has led to a patent and ongoing clinical trials to test a novel approach to cancer care.

Following graduation from Harvard, Majeti obtained both his MD and PhD degrees from the University of California, San Francisco. His internal medicine residency took place in Boston at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He first arrived at Stanford in 2004 for a fellowship in Hematology. He joined the Stanford faculty in 2007 and is currently an Associate Professor.

Majeti holds a number of leadership roles in the School of Medicine and Department of Medicine. They include Director of the Translational Program in Hematologic Malignancies, Co-Director of the Translational Investigator Pathway (TIP) for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, Co-Director of the Lymphoma and Leukemia Program for the Stanford Cancer Center and Assistant Director, Stanford Ludwig Center for Cancer Stem Cell Research.
