“This is the stand-up show you get if you say 'James Baldwin'
three times into a bathroom mirror."
—Baron Vaughn, Salon
"High-concept, racially conscious and earnest..."
—Charles Holmes, Rolling Stone
“New Negro” is a term popularized during the Harlem Renaissance referring to Black Americans speaking up, telling their own stories, and affirming their various identities in order to dismantle outdated assumptions and beliefs. This show is KINDA doing that, but with sillinesses and jokisms. Join Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle as they host an array of talent some old, some new, all New Negroes.
