Creating less printed material for Open Enrollment

We are reducing the amount of paper communications we send, while making sure you have what you need to make educated choices. One of our first steps: we won't print and mail Personal Enrollment Worksheets to all retirees this year; that information is available to you through the My Benefits portal. Note: we also won't be mailing the Retiree Benefits Summary booklet for 2020.

News & Reminders

No health plan changes for Medicare-eligible retirees

Stanford will continue to offer two Medicare Advantage and two Medicare Supplement plans for 2020, as well as a dental plan and vision plan. If you don't need to make changes, your medical, dental and vision plan elections will automatically roll over.

Changes to plan options for retirees under age 65

A new plan, Trio by Blue Shield, is available to you if you are not Medicare-eligible and if you live in the plan’s California service areas. Members of the EPO plan have also been notified that Stanford is discontinuing that plan amid concerns about its affordability.

SHCA members will be required to designate a primary care physician (PCP) for 2020

SHCA will send you a letter in the mail with a recommended PCP based on your care history and location. You can change your PCP during Open Enrollment through My Benefits, or after by calling Stanford Member Care Services at 855-345-SHCA (7422). Note: You will receive new plan ID cards in January, which will include your PCP.
