STANFORD, Calif. - Al Netter and Viane Talamaivao have been named co-offensive line coaches, as announced by Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football Troy Taylor.

"This gives us two phenomenal offensive line coaches that have been great at both developing players and cultivating meaningful relationships within their position groups. This combination will make our offensive line group very special."
Netter arrives on The Farm after a five-year tenure at Yale, in which he served as the program's offensive line coach, co-offensive coordinator and assistant head coach.
In addition to his Midwest ties, having played his collegiate career at Northwestern and later coaching at Michigan, Netter has a distinct familiarity with the Bay Area. A native of Rohnert Park, California, Netter attended Cardinal Newman High School and played parts of three seasons for the San Francisco 49ers.

Netter became Yale's offensive line coach in 2018, was promoted to run game coordinator in 2020 and concluded his stint in New Haven as associate head coach and co-offensive coordinator. In his first season, Netter helped mentor Dieter Eiselen and Sterling Strother, as both earned All-Ivy recognition. Eiselen also went on to earn All-America honors during Yale's 2019 Ivy League Championship season before later signing with the Chicago Bears. The Bulldogs also claimed the 2022 Ivy League title, with Nick Gargiulo and Kiran Amegadjie flourishing as All-Ivy selections under Netter's tutelage.
From 2015-17, Netter served as the offensive graduate assistant coach at Michigan, working with the offensive line during a stretch in which the Wolverines won 28 games and played in three bowl games. While in Ann Arbor, Netter was reunited with head coach Jim Harbaugh, whom he played three seasons (2012-14) for on the offensive line as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. Netter's NFL career also included a stint with the Tennessee Titans.
During his collegiate career, Netter was a four-year starter on the offensive line from 2008-11. A two-time team captain (2009-10), three-time All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection (2009-11) and three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree (2009-11), Netter started all 52 career games for the Wildcats, where he helped block for an offense which produced 5,417 yards of total offense in 2011.
Netter, an All-North Coast Section tackle at Cardinal Newman High School in 2006, led the Cardinals to the Division 3 state title game that year, where they fell 27-20 in overtime to Oaks Christian of Westlake Village.
Netter earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern in 2011 and master's from Michigan in sports management in 2017.
Netter and his wife, Katie, have two children, Jordyn and Westley.
Talamaivao most recently served as the offensive line coach at Northern Arizona after completing the 2022 campaign as an offensive graduate assistant at Oregon.
Talamaivao's familiarity with the Pac-12 includes a coaching stop at his alma mater, USC. Joining the staff as a graduate assistant in 2019, Talamaivao remained in that capacity for two seasons before shifting to an offensive quality control analyst position in 2021.

During his time on the USC staff, the Trojans finished 17-14 overall and 15-8 in the Pac-12. Talamaivao played a key role in the development of All-Pac-12 First Team offensive tackles and eventual NFL first-round draft picks Austin Jackson and Alijah-Vera Tucker, who in 2020 was named the Pac-12's Offensive Morris Trophy recipient as the conference's top lineman.
A former four-star and top-100 recruit, Talamaivao was named a Pac-12 All-Honorable Mention selection and Freshman All-American, starting 37 games at guard for USC between 2014-17 before splitting time with the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2018 NFL season.
During his collegiate career, Talamaivao helped lead USC to a 38-16 overall record, 27-9 mark in the Pac-12 and appearances in the Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl and Holiday Bowl (twice). As a senior, Talamaivao was honored with the team's Trojan Commitment Award.
A native of Moreno Valley, California, Talamaivao received his bachelor's degree in business administration in 2018 and worked toward a master's degree in communication management from USC during his graduate assistantship.
