STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford women's gymnastics program is excited to announce that Isabela Onyshko has signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Cardinal next season.

A native of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, Onyshko participated in the 2016 Olympic Games and finished eighth on the balance beam. She also competed in the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018, the Pan American Games in 2015 and 2019, the World Championships in 2014, 2015 and 2017, and multiple World Challenge Cups.

"We are thrilled to welcome Isabela to The Farm," head coach Tabitha Yim said Friday. "Bela is joining our team later in her career after pursuing her goals and dreams on the international stage. She is an exceptional young woman who will bring experience, power, elegance and artistry. It was been an absolute pleasure getting to know Bela and her family, and we know she will make outstanding contributions to the Stanford community."

A member of the Canadian National Team, Onyshko competed for the Brandon Eagles Gymnastics Centre from 2012-2018, and now competes for Vancouver Phoenix Gymnastics. Additionally, she has competed for L'International Gymnix since 2012.

"Our staff and team have done an incredible job bringing in athletes who are passionate and committed to the values and vision of our program and university," Yim said. "We look forward to building on the success we have attained and are ready to take the next step as a program."
