The amazing efforts of faculty and staff in the face of the fast-moving pandemic have been transformative. Cardinal at Work interviewed 16 of you who represent our collective efforts, from keeping our students and campus safe to providing support for students who are across the globe, ensuring research continues unabated, providing core services, and taking on new challenges without hesitation. Despite the complete disruption personally and professionally, we are moving Stanford forward and adapting at lightning speed.

Benefits & Rewards

California's planned extension of paid family leave

Unrelated to the current pandemic, in June 2019, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill (SB 83) that would extend paid family leave benefits to eight weeks, effective July 1, 2020.

Health plans offer new options for virtual care

Through a service called Teladoc and an app called My Strength, Stanford's health plans make it easier for you to see a provider without making an in-person appointment.

Check out the new ConnectSU website

The Office of Engagement in the President's Office has launched ConnectSU, open to everyone at Stanford, to help all of us keep a sense of community. You'll find ways to virtually connect and be able to join in periodic polls and contests. The first poll  solicits your thoughts by May 13 to share what's good as a way to support each other with positivity.

May 13: People of Color in Technology (Stanford POC-IT) Zoom event

Join People of Color in Technology for a Zoom event featuring Sarah Soule, Morgridge Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Graduate School of Business.

May 28: BeWell Virtual Cardinal Walk

This year's Cardinal Walk is going virtual. Register for the Zoom ahead of time and join for a fun, short warm-up, followed by a walk around your neighborhood. Send us a picture of yourself on the walk to show community solidarity.

May 31: Child Care Subsidy Grant (CCSG) program application deadline 

The CCSG provides grants to assist with the cost of child care. Employees who were hired or added an eligible child to the family between September 2, 2019 and May 31, 2020 may apply for the six-month taxable grant.
